Together for Short Lives is a charity focused on aiding children facing life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families to get the help and support they need through these challenging times.

Together for Short Lives, a charity celebrated for its impactful work and support from high-net-worth individuals, approached us with a unique challenge. Hosting an exclusive event, they aimed to showcase premier prizes in a competitive auction environment. The overarching goal was clear: to significantly elevate their fundraising efforts, matching the event’s high calibre through a seamless auction platform.

Our Solution

By utilising our online auction platform, Together for Short Lives successfully generated pre-bids, creating an opportunity for wider participation as it allowed those who weren’t able to attend the event the opportunity to engage. In addition to thisthe online auction platform was used to publicise the live auction lots which was key to generating awareness and interest prior to the event taking place. The online platform also facilitated pledges reducing admin and data-loss through the traditional paper methods. To further enhance the success, Superstars integrated prizes with donated lots, enriching the auction’s appeal and value. On the night of the live event iPads and QR Codes were used to allow guests to easily participate in the fundraising.

Impact of Our Solution

The transition to digital bidding not only aligned with the event’s prestigious nature but also significantly boosted fundraising efficiency. The introduction of features like remote pre-bidding and a diverse selection of enticing prizes led to improved fundraising performance. This technological approach ensured a smooth, reliable process, ultimately enhancing the event’s success.

Bidding Methodology

The decision to employ an online bidding method was strategic, aimed at fostering a competitive bidding environment. This approach was essential to maximise the value of the auction’s prizes, ensuring that each item reached its potential in contributing to the charity’s goals.

Effectiveness of the Bidding Method

This method proved to be effective. By leveraging technology, we not only provided a platform that matched the event’s exclusivity but also improved the engagement and participation of guests. The result was a contribution towards the event’s success, with the charity raising £300,000 from 250 guests at the event.

Lessons & Future Recommendations

Reflecting on the event’s success, digital solutions significantly enhanced fundraising efforts. However, considering the ongoing economic climate, it is sensible to include items at a range of price points to ensure broader participation.
